Parish Comments November 2017 – Coxhoe Parish Council resolved to object to this application at our meeting 1 November 2017. It was clear on the original planning application the design and construction of this property abutted a historic public right of way. This property was built and purchased in this knowledge. The applicant has grubbed up the path way and removed a very mature hedgerow and encroached into farmland without consultation with anyone, encroached into farmland and diverted the course of a public highway without permission. We consider this sets a serious and dangerous precedent for this and other paths in our parish and would likely lead to repetition elsewhere. The impact on ecology and biodiversity of this action is not acceptable, severing a natural corridor.
This is further encroachment into farmland and the countryside, is not welcome and this could again set an unwelcome and unacceptable precedent. The diverted course of this footpath is not acceptable for other residents in the area. The fenestration of their properties took into account the original course of the footpath, and because the properties in Station Road are lower than the field to the rear this means that regular users of this well used footpath are now looking directly into bedrooms, gardens and an unacceptable level of visible intrusion and massively increasing the risk and fear of crime. This cannot be deemed acceptable? The Parish Council will want to speak against this application when it is discussed by planning committee and will speak against it if approved by planning at any hearing by the Highways Committee.
We support the reinstatement of this footpath along its original course and re-planting of a mature hedgerow as soon as possible.
