Coxhoe Parish Council is continuing its dedicated efforts to enhance Kingswood Nature Reserve, with a fresh wave of pathway improvement works currently underway. These developments are part of a wider vision to make the reserve more accessible to the community while encouraging biodiversity and supporting local wildlife.

The works are supported through a five-year Countryside Stewardship agreement, which the Parish Council secured to help fund improvements to the land. Each year, the grant is used to implement positive changes—ranging from habitat management to infrastructure upgrades—with the goal of preserving the natural beauty of Kingswood and enriching the experience for visitors.

This year’s focus includes clearing key sections of the walking paths, ensuring they remain safe and user-friendly for walkers, families, and nature lovers. The improved access will make it easier for residents and visitors to enjoy the reserve throughout the seasons.

In a significant step for local wildlife conservation, the Parish Council has also recently purchased 40 bird boxes. These will be installed across the Nature Reserve in the coming weeks, offering new nesting opportunities for a range of bird species. The installation of the bird boxes aims to attract more native birds to the area, supporting their populations and contributing to the overall ecological health of the woodland.

Coxhoe Parish Council are committed to balancing public access with wildlife conservation. By enhancing pathways and creating suitable habitats, Kingswood continues to develop as a welcoming, nature-rich space for everyone to enjoy.

Residents are encouraged to explore the improved paths and keep an eye out for the new bird boxes as they’re installed—hopefully spotting some new feathered residents in the near future!
